April 5, I'm back at one of my favorite places, Chattokee Lodge in northeast Alabama, for a turkey hunt. Harlan Star and his lovely wife and daughter own and operate this 5-star operation. Accompanied by two NWTF videographers, we successfully made a movie star out of this beautiful eastern gobbler the first morning.

The lodge at Chattokee is built from native woods selectively taken off the property. The lodge and landscaped grounds are also used for private parties, corporate retreats, weddings and reunions.

Hiding from a turkey's sharp eyes can be difficult but our
experienced cameramen are accomplished at using every bit of
available cover in order to get the shot.

Blending with your surroundings is the name of the game for suc-
cess in the turkey woods.

We used this Strut and Spin decoy to fool more than one jealous tom.

I even talked Harlan into joining the hunt and taking his first turkey of the year. Thanks to the extensive habitat restoration program in place at Chattokee, native wildgame of every species is flourishing.
