April 8 kicked off the second annual Gaylord, Bass Pro, NWTF Veteran's Turkey Hunt in Nashville, Tennessee. Sgt 1st Class Ronnie Gullion and Staff Sgt (retired) Adam Peacock, both from Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, and their families were the honored guests for this event.
A red carpet, star-ovation greeting kicked off the surprise-filled weekend. Greg Cole, manager of Nashville Outdoor World, treated these special vets to the ultimate turkey hunter's dream shopping spree. They were outfitted from head to toe in RedHead hunting apparel. Both soldiers got everything they needed to look stylish and be comfortable in the turkey woods. They also chose some RedHead Bone Dry rain suits, RedHead Turkey Lounger vests, RedHead box calls, and other necessities for the next day's hunt.
Gaylord Opryland Resort went over the top to honor and entertain these special guests and their families. On Friday, while we were out hunting, wives Tonya and Beth and Ronnie's daughter, Lindsey, were treated to a luxurious day at the Relache Spa. Exquisite dinner meals were personally prepared by the chefs at the Ristorante Volare and the Cascades American Cafe'. Everyone enjoyed the music and the backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry. Ronnie and Adam were brought to tears when they received a standing ovation from the entire Opry crowd.

This is Staff Sgt. (retired) Adam Peacock just minutes after shooting this huge gobbler. It was his first Tennessee turkey and his third ever. Adam's smile says it all. This exciting hunt will air on NWTF's Turkey Call program on the Pursuit Channel.

Happy hunting party, l to r (back row): Tim Samples, Gaylord representative and landowner host; Brenda Valentine, hunt guide and NWTF national spokesperson; Charles Tollett, East Tennessee NWTF regional director and hunt coordinator; (front row) Sgt. 1st Class Ronnie Gullion and Staff Sgt. Adam Peacock.

Packing out the heavy gobbler for my successful turkey hunting vet was the icing on the cake of a wonderful Tennessee weekend.

Home at last for a family turkey hunt,
Barney and I did a double on a couple of awesome longbeards. We piled our birds and all our equipment by the log where we hunted to show everyone the gear we depend on for success on this hunt.
I shot a Winchester 12-gauge pump with a Pure Gold Choke.
Barney used a 12-gauge LSI Escort.
We both used Vanguard compact binoculars.
