There is no shortage of
elephants in Krueger

The intrigue
of hunting cape buffalo has been
a nagging itch that grew worse
with each passing year. I longed
to experience the feelings
described by Ruark, Capstick,
and Boddington. On July 9, 2008,
the opportunity arrived to
personally know that feeling
when I took a wonderful cape
buffalo bull with one arrow from
my Parker bow. The many months
of equipment preparation,
strength building, and working
with my outfitter, Dalerwa
Ventures, and the South African
Game Department for a permit
were all worth it. The real
reward was knowing that I had
put together the right equipment
combination with the kinetic
energy to effectively and
humanely put down what is
considered to be one of the
toughest animals on earth. The
bull went less than 70 yards.
Our entire camp feasted on
buffalo meat and I have to admit
it was the finest fare I've ever
tasted, but then, why wouldn't
it be-- since it marked the
culmination of a dream that had
finally come true.
My equipment: Silent-Hide
RedHead For Her clothing in
Mossy Oak Break-Up, Parker
BlackHawk Compound Bow, Simmons Razor
Shark Broadheads, Whisker Biscuit Arrow Rest,
and LimbSaver Prism Sight.
