The Boss Hoss
annual convention and Burn Out
BBQ Cook-Off rolled into Paris
Landing State Park on Ky. Lake
Sept. 17-20, hosted by the Paris
Landing Tourism League. Each day
there was an exhausting agenda
that offered something fun for
everyone. Boss Hosses are
motorcycles amped up with 8
cylinders and sporting every
bell and whistle imaginable.
Owners and admirers know the
annual convention is the place
to see and be seen.

Among the droves of Boss Hoss
fans and riders were a few folks
with more domestic talents, such
as cooking; Southern Bar-B-Que
style cooking, to be exact. I
was one of the lucky judges who
sampled each entry and voted for
the overall winner of each
category.

Vendors came from all over North
America and displayed custom
bikes and accessories throughout
the park.

Grills and smokers created the
most mouth-watering smells of
slow cooked pork, chicken, ribs
and vegetables and cobblers.
Paris Landing State Park, with
its ancient shade trees,
numerous camp sites and miles of
lake frontage is the perfect
place for a family outing or a
serene get-away.

Most grillmasters and their
teammates sat up all night
tending the coals and turning
the meat in hopes of taking home
the loot for the winning
entries.

Secret recipes and vivid
imaginations seem to go
hand-in-hand with great
grilling.

Free samples were offered to
passers by in hopes of winning
the "People's Choice" award.

All true southern shindigs
include family, friends, good
food and music... maybe even a
little karaoke.

Some of the folks seemed to be
just hanging out waiting for the
dinner bell to ring.

Trophies, plaques, gifts, and
cash awaited the teams that
turned in the most delectable
dishes.
