Chattokee Lodge in N.E. Alabama was the most recent hunting destination for myself and the Bass Pro cameras. This magnificient lodge is owned and operated by Harlan & Sheila Starr who ran a cattle operation on the property before diving in to a full-fledged outfitting business.
Located just minutes from Ft. Payne, Alabama, the 800-acre farm is nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains near Lake Weiss.
The property has been transformed from fenced cow pastures to bountiful habitat for quail, turkey, duck and deer. The 5-star lodge was custom built from timber taken from the land. Chattokee offers corporate retreats, family get-togethers, or can host just about any kind of large function desiring a picturesque setting and fine food and accomodations.

The lodge is gorgeous both inside and out. It is built totally with native woods.

Harlan is on the National Board of Directors of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Conservation and hunting are his passions.

The gorgeous Little River Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the East, is little more than a stones throw from Chattokee.

Chattokee Lodge is a family run operation. L-R: Sheila, Harlan, and Marchton Starr.

The kitchen is always the heart of the hunt. Here, cameramen, Ken and Barney, are hanging out and hoping for samples from the delectable dish Harlan is preparing.

This fine Alabama 9 pt. buck chose the wrong place and the wrong time to go looking for does. You can witness it all next season in High Def on REAL HUNTING TV on Verses Network.
The equipment I used:
- RedHead clothing in Mossy Oak camo
- Winchester Silver Ballistic-Tip ammo
- Vanguard 10x42 bino's
- Vanguard shooting sticks
- Energizer NightStrike flashlight (this thing is awsome)
- Browning A-Bolt rifle in .300 wsm
