Roosevelt State Park near
Morton, Mississippi, came alive
with outdoors women during
Halloween weekend. NWTF Regional
Director Abby Coffman hosted a
Women In The Outdoors
event for ladies wanting to
learn new skills and share fun
times with other outdoor gals.
Participants came from all over
Mississippi and a few
neighboring states to support
the program while enjoying the
beauty of the park.

Dutch oven cooking (and
sampling) was but one of the
class options available to
participants.

Archery is always a popular
class with the ladies.

These women are learning to make
cute tote bags from duct tape.

These gals all were interested
in learning more about deer
hunting and attended the class
taught by me. Note the red noses
and jackets due to the sudden
drop in overnight temps.

A Wilderness Survival class
taught by a military survival
expert had good information
which could be useful for anyone
in a multitude of situations.

Smiles were a common sight at
this event.

Katrina was the winner of the
costume competition on Sat.
night with her outfit depicting
a gypsy lady deer
hunter....There was also a
surprise "sexy boot" contest
held at noon on Saturday.

The evening campfire not only
felt warm and relaxing but
brought out the storyteller in
everyone.
